New Additions to the Cast
HBO has revealed three key additions to the cast of its Harry Potter series. Lenny Rush will take on the role of Dobby the House-elf, Billy Barratt has been cast as young Tom Riddle, and newcomer Bonnie Hill joins as Ginny Weasley.
About the Actors
Lenny Rush, 17, is a British actor, presenter, and comedian known for his work on the children’s series The Dumping Ground. He has also appeared in episodes of Doctor Who and Taskmaster. Dobby, first introduced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, plays a significant role throughout the series.
Billy Barratt, 18, is set to portray Tom Riddle, the character who eventually transforms into Lord Voldemort. Barratt is currently filming Amazon Prime Video’s adaptation of the video game Life is Strange, where he plays the antagonist Nathan Prescott, and has appeared as a young Dmitri Smerdyakov in Kraven the Hunter.
Bonnie Hill will be taking over the role of Ginny Weasley starting from the second season. HBO has not disclosed why Gracie Cochrane, who played Ginny in the first season, will not be returning.
Returning Cast Members
Alongside these new additions, several cast members are returning for the series. Notable actors include Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Anticipated Release
HBO has announced that the first season of the series will premiere this Christmas, with episodes airing into early 2027.
