Jeph Loeb Discusses the Delays Surrounding The Batman Hush Sequel

The anticipated sequel to H2SH, crafted by renowned creators Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee, and Alex Sinclair, has faced significant delays, a situation that resonates deeply within the collector community and retail landscape as fans look forward to new content. Loeb recently shared insights into these delays during the DC Comics: What’s Next panel at the Emerald City Comic Con 2026.

Jeph Loeb Reveals Why The Batman Hush Sequel Is So Delayed

Loeb elaborated on the hurdles faced in bringing the next chapter of the Hush storyline to fruition, highlighting the illustrious Jim Lee as his collaborator. He stated, “The reality is, I have a partner who is the best artist living on the planet… Jim Lee. He also happens to be the publisher of the best comic book company, and that takes a lot of time.” This acknowledgment emphasizes the challenges of balancing artistry and publishing responsibilities, a factor that collectors should keep in mind as they await updates.

Moreover, promotional duties for the upcoming 2025 Superman film starring David Corenswet have also contributed to the delays. Loeb noted that Lee had shifted his focus towards a crossover project involving Superman and Spider-Man, further postponing the progress on H2SH. Loeb remarked, “Well, there’s a whole other part of Batman #163 we’re not going to see.” As such, this delay underscores the interconnectedness of various projects in the industry, reflecting on how one delay can ripple through the toy and collectibles market.

Despite the setbacks, Loeb urged the community to remain patient, stating, “Do not hate the man, hate the game.” He reassured fans that the conclusion of H2SH had been meticulously planned, affirming that the saga would consist of six issues before taking a break.

In November 2025, it was officially revealed that Batman #163 had been rescheduled for release at the end of March 2026. However, in February 2026, Lee announced through his social media channels that the date had been pushed back further, with the current projected release set for May 27.

Lee expressed gratitude towards fans for their understanding, stating, “Personal circumstances have slowed the pace on Hush 2 (to put it mildly) — thank you for the patience and support. I remain ever grateful for the privilege of telling stories through words and pictures.” This sentiment echoes within the collector community, which thrives on the narrative and emotional connection to these beloved characters.
