BREAKING: Spider-Man’s Clone Saga Could Be Coming to Prime Video

Date:

The Clone Saga may be the next chapter of Sony and Amazon’s live-action Spider-Man television universe.

Prime Video is reportedly nearing a green light for a new live-action series inspired by Marvel Comics’ infamous Clone Saga, with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker expected to be at the center of the story.

For longtime Spider-Man readers, that immediately opens the door to one of the wildest periods in the character’s history. Ben Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker who eventually became the Scarlet Spider, while Kaine was an earlier, imperfect clone. The 1990s Clone Saga became particularly controversial when Marvel temporarily established Ben as the original Peter Parker and Peter as the clone — a development that was later reversed.

The news comes just weeks after Prime Video canceled Spider-Noir following one season. That series starred Nicolas Cage as a version of Ben Reilly, making the situation particularly interesting: Amazon and Sony could be moving from one Ben Reilly-led Spider-Man project directly into another.

The new project is reportedly inspired specifically by the second Clone Saga, although sources caution that the television adaptation could make significant changes to the comics.

No casting, premiere date, or official series order has been announced yet.
