The adventure unfolds with the origins of Batman as a young Bruce Wayne trains under The League of Shadows. Throughout the narrative-driven campaign, players will build a roster of allies, featuring prominent characters such as Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul, to face an amplifying threat from a Rogues Gallery of DC Super-Villains, tackling adversaries like The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Ra’s al Ghul, Bane, and others.
With a revamped LEGO Batman combat system that exemplifies the Caped Crusader’s distinctive fighting style, each strike delivers significant impact, featuring fluid attack chains, counters, and extravagant takedowns. Players can choose to play solo or engage in a two-player local cooperative mode, utilizing iconic Bat-gadgets such as Batarangs to distract or incapacitate foes and the Batclaw to pull them close. Each partner character wields unique equipment, including Jim Gordon’s foam sprayer, Robin’s line launcher, and Catwoman’s whip, providing various strategies for confronting enemies and engaging in boss battles. For those seeking a greater challenge, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight introduces the Caped Crusader difficulty setting, which includes an even more arduous Dark Knight difficulty level.
The game is set against the vibrant backdrop of Gotham City, an open-world LEGO environment replete with crimes to thwart, puzzles to solve, rewards to uncover, and surprises waiting to be discovered at every turn, in every alleyway, and atop every rooftop. Players can glide, grapple, or drive through this immersive world, transitioning seamlessly between buildings with Batman’s grapple launcher, soaring above the skyline with the Batglider, or cruising in style using various Batmobiles and Batcycles. Furthermore, players can customize the Batcave to display their vehicles, trophies, and collectibles, as well as an array of wearable Batsuits reflecting the rich history of Batman-related media.
