Tom Holland will be returning to the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day next week after taking time off due to an injury he sustained on set last Friday.
Executives at Sony convened on Monday to devise a plan for resuming production. They opted to pause filming for a week instead of proceeding without Holland, a decision that is not anticipated to affect the film’s scheduled release date of July 31, 2026.
The nature of Holland’s injury has been characterized as a mild concussion, and he is taking precautions as a result. Notably, the actor managed to participate in a charity event hosted by The Brothers Trust, an organization he runs with his siblings, just the following day.
Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the forthcoming Wonder Man TV series, is set to direct Brand New Day. Familiar faces returning to the franchise alongside Holland include Zendaya as M.J. and Jacob Batalon as Ned. The cast also features Marvel stalwarts Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk) and Jon Bernthal (the Punisher), with newcomers such as Sadie Sink from Stranger Things and Tramell Tillman from Severance, along with Michael Mando reprising his role as the Scorpion from 2017’s Homecoming.
Marvel Studios continues its collaboration with Sony on this film, mirroring their successful partnership on Holland’s previous Spider-Man films. Holland’s past ventures have proven immensely profitable, with 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home becoming Sony’s highest-grossing film, raking in $1.91 billion, while 2019’s Far From Home was the first Spider-Man movie to exceed the $1 billion mark.
