Mike Colter Comments on Luke Cage Reboot Speculation

Luke Cage actor Mike Colter recently addressed fan inquiries regarding the possibility of reprising his role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe during an appearance at Edmonton Expo. Colter’s response was pointed, stating, “I don’t know why people keep asking me this. There’s no signs.” He further remarked, “It’s not like they’ve just recently revived one of the Marvel Netflix shows,” in reference to the recently premiered Daredevil: Born Again, featuring Charlie Cox back as Matt Murdock.

Colter first emerged as Luke Cage in the inaugural season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter, before headlining his own Luke Cage series that spanned two seasons and 26 episodes. He also appeared in the Netflix crossover series The Defenders, which united the casts of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist against a formidable enemy: the ancient cult of assassins known as The Hand.

The Defenders concluded Netflix’s narrative arc based on Marvel Comics characters; however, the legacies of these stories persist, primarily due to recent Marvel Cinematic Universe developments. Notably, Daredevil: Born Again has revived interest in the franchise, as Charlie Cox resumes his role following appearances in productions like 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and 2022’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The revival has also seen the return of fan-favorite characters, including Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, among others.

As anticipation builds for Daredevil: Season 2, scheduled for Disney+ release in March 2026, limited information about its overall storyline has emerged. Familiar faces such as Cox and Woll will reprise their roles, along with newcomers including Matthew Lillard and Lili Taylor. Marvel Studios has confirmed that this won’t be the end of Matt Murdock’s journey, as plans for a third season of Daredevil: Born Again are already underway.

The original Luke Cage series is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
