Punisher to Feature in Four New Marvel Comic Series This December

Marvel’s iconic Punisher is set to become the focal point in four distinct comic book titles, all launching just in time for the holiday season.

According to Marvel Comics, Frank Castle will spearhead four exciting new titles hitting store shelves this December. In addition to being a significant character in the forthcoming Marvel: Black, White & Blood and Guts #3, which is scheduled for release on December 3, the Punisher will star in three additional series bearing his name. These include Punisher: Red Band by Benjamin Percy and Julius Ohta, Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger by Jimmy Palmiotti, Tommaso Bianchi, and José Luis Soares, and Marvel Knights: Punisher by Jimmy Palmiotti and Dan Panosian. Fans can view the covers for the December issues of each title in the image gallery below.

Each series offers a unique perspective on the Punisher that maintains his unyielding association with violence. Marvel: Black, White & Blood and Guts continues the beloved anthology tradition, albeit with an intensity that has reached new heights. Punisher: Red Band takes this further, placing the raw brutality of Frank Castle’s mission squarely in the limelight. Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger presents the most traditional superhero narrative among the four Punisher-led titles, yet still revolves around the ongoing conflict with the Gnucci crime family, known for their bloody legacy, heightening the series’ intensity.

Marvel Knights: Punisher follows the recent release of Marvel Knights: The World to Come by Joe Quesada and Christopher Priest, which revitalized the Marvel Knights brand and provided readers with a glimpse into the future of Black Panther. The earlier series received critical acclaim and saw increasing popularity throughout its six-issue run, largely due to the introduction of Katema, T’Challa’s future son who fiercely opposes his father’s rule and takes extreme measures to seize the Black Panther mantle.

In a recent interview with CBR, Marvel Knights: Punisher writer and co-creator Jimmy Palmiotti shared insights regarding the brand’s origins and the mission of its impending title. “Back in ’98, the comic market was quite different. Sales were decreasing, titles were being canceled, and Marvel wanted to shake things up. That’s when Joe [Quesada] and I were approached with what turned out to be a bold idea,” Palmiotti recounted the inception of Marvel Knights. “We weren’t merely looking to revive titles; we aimed to remind readers why they initially fell in love with comics and these characters. Somehow, everything clicked into place.” Palmiotti added that Marvel Knights: Punisher aspires to “ignite innovation, honor legacy, and give fans the visceral excitement they have been yearning for.”

Marvel Knights: Punisher #3, Punisher: Red Band #4, Marvel: Black, White & Blood and Guts #3, and Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger #2 will all be available this December from Marvel Comics.
