In the ever-evolving landscape of the DC Comics cinematic universe, the collaborative efforts of noted director Matt Reeves are yielding exciting possibilities for collectors and fans alike. His recent involvement in a range of projects, including the much-anticipated The Batman Part II, signifies a growing momentum within the domain of animated adaptations as well.

Reeves’ influence is not limited to live-action films but extends to new ventures, including a potential Catwoman film and an animated project titled Dynamic Duo. This latter project, in partnership with Swaybox Studios, showcases the early days of Robin and is currently garnering interest from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
According to Arthur Mintz, co-founder of Swaybox Studios, the need for a powerful pitch led them to create a demo reel that ultimately went viral: “We thought what we were doing was cool. But we were in a garage in Shreveport, and we could see that we were about to run out of money. So, we said, ‘Let’s make a little demo reel of what’s possible.’ And that piece went viral.” This serendipitous success caught Reeves’ attention, who expressed a long-standing desire to tell stories about Robin, demonstrating the transformative effect of well-executed creative pitches in the industry.
With Reeves’ support, Swaybox is poised to make a significant impact in the animated film sphere, poised for a theatrical release in 2028. As Chris Armand from Swaybox indicated, the collaborative synergy with Reeves and 6th & Idaho has been refreshingly different from their previous experiences: “[They] were the first people to say ‘We like that, stay doing that. That feels the best.’”
This forthcoming Dynamic Duo film, exploring the early narratives of both Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, is especially relevant for collectors, as it could provide new figures, merchandise, and storytelling opportunities in the beloved Batman franchise.
As Matt Reeves continues to imprint his visionary approach on multiple projects within the DC Studios portfolio, the implications for collectors, retailers, and the larger toy market are substantial, indicating both expanded storytelling and further product lines ahead.
Dynamic Duo is scheduled for release on June 30, 2028.
