The new era of Spawn begins in October with the highly anticipated crossover issue.

In a press release from Image Comics, fans are treated to an exclusive preview of the forthcoming showdown as Sir John of York, the Medieval Spawn, confronts Caleb Hawthorne, also known as the Knight Sun. This pivotal new issue, authored by Ryan Parrott and Nick Cotton with dynamic illustrations by Abel, is slated for release on October 15. It will be offered in three distinct covers by talented artists Stefano Simeone and Abel. Collectors and enthusiasts can explore these covers and preview interior pages in the accompanying gallery below.

The official synopsis for Rogue Sun #30 hints at an epic encounter: “ENTER: SPAWN! The year is 1383, and Sir John of York — the MEDIEVAL SPAWN — is on the quest for the monstrous entity known as The Withered. However, a young knight and his squire are similarly in pursuit, and Caleb Hawthorne, the KNIGHT SUN, is determined to claim his quarry. This marks a historic clash between two of Image’s most compelling heroes!”

Commenting on the forthcoming crossover, Rogue Sun writer Ryan Parrott shared, “When I first conceptualized Knight Sun, envisioning a medieval legacy iteration of Rogue Sun, a part of me hoped that they might one day cross paths with Medieval Spawn. I recognized it was likely a long shot, but… here we are. Todd [McFarlane], Thomas [Healy], and the team at Todd McFarlane Productions have been immensely generous, making it a true honor to bring this crossover to fruition.”

The Medieval Spawn made his debut in crossover events beginning with the characters from the Massive-Verse in Supermassive 2023 #1 (featuring the collaborative work of Kyle Higgins, Ryan Parrott, Melissa Flores, Mat Groom, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Walter Baiamonte, and Becca Carey). This pivotal issue introduced audiences to Thomasin, a formidable sorcerer who wielded the title of Inferno Girl Red during the Medieval period, as she contended with the Rogue Sun in pursuit of the Holy Grail.

Regrettably, Thomasin’s quest culminated in her tragic fate, seemingly allowing her legacy to fade into obscurity. However, Sir John of York’s arrival ensured she received a proper burial. Although hints of a friendship between Thomasin and Sir John are apparent, the full extent of their relationship remains to be explored in future Image Comics narratives.

Rogue Sun #30 will be available on shelves October 15 from Image Comics.
