Star Wars The Vintage Collection LAAT/i Gunship HasLab Unboxing: Assembly and Display Highlights

Date:

Hasbro’s official unboxing video takes collectors through the Star Wars: The Vintage Collection LAAT/i Gunship from the HasLab campaign, from the first cuts through the shipping carton to the finished display piece. The process is straightforward, but the packaging is substantial and the gunship packs in a surprising number of display and customization options.

What’s in the box

The gunship arrives inside an outer shipper with rigid protective material around a large inner box. The top section holds the instructions, the label sheet, and two pilot figures—one loose and one carded with a cardboard protector. Beneath that are two main boxes: one for the ship’s body and stand, and another for the engines, wings, bubble turrets, and related parts.

Assembly highlights

  • The wings key into the fuselage and remain removable.
  • The bubble turrets snap into place and can be posed.
  • The cockpit and cargo-area windows are protected during shipping.
  • The engine pods, tail gun, chin guns, rear missiles, and underwing missiles add the final layers of armament.
  • The instruction sheet provides the recommended order for first-time assembly.

One useful display note: the engine pods should be installed last and removed first if a wing needs to come off. That makes it possible to use the included tabs to hang an engine pod when displaying the gunship on a shallow shelf.

Customization and display options

The LAAT/i includes removable side panels with additional printed deco. Swapping the standard panels for the alternate versions changes the look of the ship, while the included nose-art stickers, mission markings, and ship icons allow for further reconfiguration. There is also a hidden cargo area that can store extra parts, including the spare missiles.

Collectors get two display choices: a flying stand with a Star Wars logo base and a lower hover stand. Both use the same locator point on the underside of the ship, and the small plug removed during setup has a dedicated storage spot on the base.

The finished gunship

The final feature shown in the video is the opening door system. A button on top opens the lower doors, while a small basket can be attached inside to hold gear. The rear of the ship can also drop down, giving the finished HasLab release the kind of play and display flexibility collectors expect from a centerpiece vehicle.
