As Halloween decorations fill the streets with Jack O’ Lanterns and ghosts, Todd McFarlane Productions is gearing up for the holiday season with an intriguing new entry in the Spawn Universe set to release this November.

The forthcoming title, I Saw Santa, co-written by Chris Killian and Andrew Sanders, will unfold a chilling holiday narrative that intriguingly intertwines the familiar figure of Santa Claus with the dark lore of Spawn. The plot centers on Detectives Sam and Twitch, who delve into a peculiar homicide on Christmas Eve, steering the story away from conventional holiday tales and toward a gripping mystery that hints at unsettling revelations.
I Saw Santa #1 will roll out with four striking covers, including a special wraparound variant showcasing exclusive artwork by the renowned Spawn artist Greg Capullo. This release marks Capullo’s first cover art for the Spawn Universe since his notable work on issues #313–316 in 2020 and 2021, adding to the anticipation surrounding this unique storyline. A diverse roster of variant artists will also contribute, featuring talents like Marco Failla and Todor Hristov.
Commenting on this inventive collaboration, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane expressed his excitement:
“This will be a crazy, seasonal story that will shed light on Spawn and Santa like I’ve never presented. This isn’t a fun-filled adventure… quite the opposite, as we will explore one of the mythologies that we’ve all been taught about the ‘rules’ of getting our presents. Chris and Andrew wanted to pitch this to me, and I was dubious, until I heard it. And it put a smile on my face for the wicked path they wanted to travel down. Thomas’ art also set the mood for this bizarre storyline. So, buckle up.”
