Vampire on Aisle 6: Image Comics Unveils a Darkly Humorous Series Reshaping the Vampire Genre in Unexpected Retail Settings

Date:

In a noteworthy development for collectors and comic enthusiasts, Image Comics has announced the upcoming release of Vampire on Aisle 6, a unique miniseries that blends humor with horror, set to intrigue fans in both the comic and collectible markets.

IGN can exclusively reveal the latest series from Image Comics, a quirky and downright trippy vampire story dubbed Vampire on Aisle 6. And given that it’s a collaboration between rising comics star Zoe Thorogood (It’s Lonely at the Center of the Earth) and cartoonist/musician Joe Whiteford, it’s a book that should definitely be on your radar.

Vampire on Aisle 6 is a miniseries written by Thorogood and illustrated by Whiteford. Whiteford is also developing a companion EP album that will release alongside the comic. Here’s the official description from Image Comics:

LUKA CLAIMS TO BE A VAMPIRE. HE’S TRAPPED IN A MASCOT-THEMED SUPERSTORE, THE SUN WON’T SET FOR ANOTHER TEN HOURS, AND HE’S JUST MADE HIS FIRST KILL.

After being bitten by a mysterious man at the end of an unfortunate week, Luka begins experiencing vampiric symptoms including a newfound bloodlust, a shattered reflection, and an unwillingness to go outside. His life begins unravelling, but not to worry: It’s All Just Meat!

From the industry’s most buzzed-about new voice in comics, multiple award nominated ZOE THOROGOOD (IT’S LONELY AT THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH, HACK/SLASH: BACK TO SCHOOL, JOE HILL’S RAIN) teams with Joe Whiteford for an all-new paranormal miniseries.

“Vampire on Aisle 6 is a comic + album about a self-proclaimed vampire trapped in a mascot-themed grocery store,” Thorogood tells IGN. “It’s a story about traumatic change and the isolation that follows. We hope readers/listeners are ready for an unconventional vampire story and understand, that really, It’s All Just Meat.”

Scheduled for release on December 23, Vampire on Aisle 6 #1 not only expands the boundaries of the horror genre but also presents collectors with an opportunity to engage with a cross-media experience. Preorders are available at your local comic shop.
