Weta Workshop is bringing one of the most disturbing characters from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King to collectors with its Mouth of Sauron Miniature Statue.
The piece recreates the Mouth of Sauron mounted on his sinister steed as he approaches Aragorn and his companions outside the Black Gate. Rather than simply capturing the character, Weta has leaned heavily into the unsettling details that made his brief appearance in the film so memorable.
The Mouth of Sauron is wrapped almost entirely in black cloth and dark steel armor, leaving his grotesquely enlarged mouth and pale chin exposed. His blood-covered teeth and arrogant expression help capture the confidence of a servant who knows the armies of Mordor stand behind him.
His mount receives just as much attention. The horse is covered in jagged armor plates, chainmail, leather and layered cloth, with only small portions of its black fur visible underneath. Together, the rider and mount create an appropriately dark centerpiece for a Middle-earth collection.
