Marvel Legends Unleashes Hulk 2099, Future Foundation, and Wild SDCC Exclusives

Hasbro’s latest Marvel Legends Fan Stream went full comic shop fever dream in the best possible way.

Instead of playing it safe with another round of standard Avengers releases, the team dove headfirst into comic deep cuts, retro animation insanity, meme culture, and some genuinely killer collector packaging. The stream focused heavily on San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, but there were still plenty of major reveals packed into the presentation.

Hulk 2099 Smashes Into the Hulk Lineup

The next entry in Hasbro’s ongoing Hulk-themed Marvel Legends program is none other than Hulk 2099.

And this thing looks gloriously disgusting.

The figure leans hard into the exaggerated 1990s Marvel aesthetic with oversized proportions, wild sculpting, massive hair detail, sharp teeth, and an alternate head sculpt that somehow makes him look even more terrifying. During the stream, the team openly joked about his absurd hairline, monstrous appearance, and “disgusting” design. Which honestly feels like the correct energy for a Hulk 2099 figure.

Hasbro confirmed:

  • Fan Channel + Amazon exclusive
  • Pre-orders open May 21
  • More Hulk figures are still coming later this year

Collector Verdict: Low-key one of the coolest reveals of the stream. This is Marvel Legends at its best when it stops chasing only movie characters and starts embracing weird comic-book chaos again. The 2099 universe always looked like somebody designed superheroes after drinking three cans of Surge and reading cyberpunk comics under a blacklight. Nature is healing.

MCU Punisher Returns With a Strong New Likeness

Hasbro also spotlighted the recently revealed MCU Punisher figure based on Jon Bernthal’s version of Frank Castle.

The biggest upgrade here is easily the portrait sculpt. The beard, facial detail, and expression are a huge step forward compared to earlier MCU Punisher releases.

Accessories include:

  • Shotgun
  • Knife
  • Hatchet
  • Multiple hands
  • Punisher-themed display packaging

The team also briefly referenced Punisher’s increasing relevance inside Marvel’s current media plans, including future Spider-Man appearances.

Collector Verdict: This feels like the definitive MCU Punisher release so far. Hasbro’s likeness work has gotten dramatically better lately, and this figure shows it.

Future Foundation Finally Returns

One of the biggest comic-based reveals of the stream was the return of the Future Foundation.

Hasbro revealed two separate two-packs:

  • Reed Richards + Spider-Man
  • Invisible Woman + The Thing

The Reed figure immediately stood out thanks to fully bendable stretched arms and oversized articulated hands designed to recreate his extended powers. The engineering looks surprisingly ambitious for a standard Legends release.

Sue Storm features:

  • Enhanced articulation
  • Force field effects
  • Alternate hairstyles
  • Pearlescent effects

The Thing receives:

  • New torso
  • New legs
  • Alternate head and hands

And then there’s Future Foundation Spider-Man in the black-and-white suit. Because apparently every black-and-white Spider-Man design automatically gains collector superpowers the second it exists.

Pre-order dates:

  • Reed + Spidey: May 20
  • Sue + Thing: May 27

Collector Verdict: Hickman-era Fantastic Four fans are probably screaming into the void right now. In a good way.

SDCC Exclusive: X-Men ‘97 Professor X Hover Chair

The first major San Diego Comic-Con exclusive revealed was a brand-new Professor X inspired by X-Men ‘97.

The real star here is the completely redesigned hover chair.

Hasbro rebuilt the chair from scratch using the angular animated-series design language from the show, complete with:

  • Swappable side blasters
  • Cerebro helmet
  • Alternate portrait
  • Psychic effect pieces
  • Detailed control console

But honestly? The packaging might steal the show.

The entire box is designed like an old CRT television complete with retro styling and VHS-inspired details. Steve Evans practically transformed into a packaging archaeologist during the stream, geeking out over old-school television aesthetics like a man rediscovering forbidden relics from the ancient age of Blockbuster Video.

Collector Verdict: Easily one of the cleanest Marvel Legends exclusives in years. The hover chair alone feels premium.

SDCC Exclusive: 1967 Spider-Man Meme Box Set

And then Hasbro completely embraced internet culture.

The second SDCC exclusive is a retro 1967 Spider-Man animated series set featuring:

  • Spider-Man
  • Electro
  • The Lizard

But let’s be honest. This exists for one reason:

The pointing meme.

Hasbro openly acknowledged the meme inspiration during the stream and even joked that collectors would need multiple Spider-Men to recreate the famous pointing scene correctly.

The set leans fully into the exaggerated animation style of the original cartoon with:

  • Wild facial expressions
  • Pointing hands
  • Stylized proportions
  • Bendable Lizard tail
  • Retro accessories

The Electro figure’s exaggerated expression might genuinely become one of the funniest Marvel Legends head sculpts ever released.

Collector Verdict: This set understands exactly what it is. It’s half collectible and half internet artifact. Weirdly self-aware. Weirdly perfect.

Final Thoughts

This stream felt different in a good way.

Instead of just running down another predictable list of MCU figures, Hasbro leaned into:

  • Comic weirdness
  • Animation nostalgia
  • Meme culture
  • Experimental packaging
  • Collector-first designs

That’s healthy for the line.

Anybody can release another generic Spider-Man.

Not everybody commits to a giant hairy Hulk 2099, a bendable Reed Richards nightmare sculpture, and a meme-powered Spider-Man box set designed around internet pointing jokes. Tiny plastic goblins for grown adults. Civilization is strange. Collecting somehow makes it stranger. And honestly? That’s part of the magic.
