Sony Pictures has appointed seasoned production executive Louie Provost as its new executive vice president of production.

Provost is renowned for his extensive experience gained over a 15-year tenure at Walt Disney Studios, where he was instrumental in overseeing major projects, including the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch. This film has emerged as one of the year’s most successful releases, surpassing $1 billion at the global box office.

His accomplishments in the family and franchise genres include managing the $1 billion hit Aladdin, the Emmy Award-winning series Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, the beloved The Muppets, and the visually stunning Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, as well as the heartfelt film Pete’s Dragon.

Peter Kang, the newly promoted president of the Columbia Pictures division, expressed enthusiasm for Provost’s arrival: “We’re excited to welcome Louie to the Columbia family. I met him early in his career and watched as he championed films that became global phenomena—delivering big movie moments filled with heart. As we strive to find stories and characters that audiences will seek out on the big screen, we know Louie will make an immediate and lasting impact.”

Provost began his career at Disney in 2007, serving as an assistant to then-president of production Oren Aviv. His hard work and talent swiftly propelled him through the production and development ranks, culminating in his recognition as part of The Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen list in 2015.
