IDW Publishing Expands the Event Horizon Universe with a New Sequel

Date:

IDW Publishing has announced a sequel to Event Horizon, titled Event Horizon: Inferno, that is set two centuries after the original film. This development not only expands the narrative universe but also provides significant opportunities for collectors and fans alike.

Event Horizon Gets A Sequel, Set Two Centuries After The Original Film

Written by Christian Ward, who previously contributed to the prequel series, Event Horizon: Dark Descent, the sequel promises to dive deeper into the lore established by its predecessors. Joining him is Rob Carey, an acclaimed artist known for his work in Aliens: Resistance and Outsiders, ensuring that the visuals will meet the high standards set by earlier installments.

Christian Ward expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled to continue the story of Event Horizon. First, we told you the story about what happened before the events of the film, and now we’re exploring what happened after the credits rolled. Get ready for more sci-fi, more excitement and especially more cosmic terror. There are more demons in hell and we’re only just beginning.” This certainly heightens the anticipation for collectors eager to add to their collections.

As for the prequel series, EVENT HORIZON: DARK DESCENT has seen remarkable success, with multiple printings selling out quickly due to high demand. In response, IDW Publishing has announced final reprints of the first four issues. This provides a crucial opportunity for collectors who might have missed out on the initial print runs to secure their copies before they become harder to find. Fans hoping to obtain the trades will need to wait until the collected edition arrives next summer.

Pre-orders for the final printings will be available starting December 15, with the release of all four new printings coinciding with the final issue’s publication on February 4, 2026. This timeline is critical for retailers and collectors to note, as the series’ popularity may drive swift sales.
