The ice is heating up as the upcoming sixth film in the Ice Age franchise has been officially named Ice Age: Boiling Point. This announcement was made at the recent D23 event in Orlando, Florida, where it was also revealed that the film is slated for theatrical release on February 5, 2027.
This news follows the confirmation earlier this year that the next Ice Age film is currently in production.
According to Disney, the official logline for Ice Age: Boiling Point is: “A dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure that takes Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World.”
Returning cast members include Ray Romano as woolly mammoth Manny, Queen Latifah as friendly mammoth Ellie, John Leguizamo as Sid the sloth, Denis Leary as smilodon Diego, and Simon Pegg as weasel Buck, all of whom are reprising their iconic roles.
The original Ice Age film premiered in 2002 and has since spawned several successful sequels: The Meltdown (2006), Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Continental Drift (2012), and Collision Course (2016), the latter of which grossed nearly $409 million worldwide. The franchise also extended its reach with spin-offs such as The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022) and the Disney+ series Ice Age: Scrat Tales (2022).
Additionally, it was announced at D23 that Disney’s next original animated film, Hexed, is set to arrive in theaters in November 2026. The story follows an awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mother, who discover that his unusual traits may be due to magical powers that will dramatically transform their lives and a hidden world of magic.
