Guillermo del Toro is poised to dominate the cinematic landscape this fall.
His much-anticipated adaptation of Frankenstein has already garnered accolades at various film festivals. Furthermore, Beyond Fest will feature a 12-film retrospective commencing at the end of September, and del Toro will serve as the guest artistic director for this October’s AFI Fest. Additionally, a selection of his acclaimed memorabilia will be auctioned off.
Now, fans can look forward to adding to their collections with the upcoming release of *The Art & Making of Frankenstein: Written & Directed by Guillermo del Toro*, the official companion book for his film, which is set for a limited theatrical release on October 17, followed by its Netflix debut on November 7.
Published by Insight Editions, this book aims to provide readers with an in-depth exploration of the creative process behind Mary Shelley’s gothic classic as it transitions to the screen. Authored by Sheila O’Malley, it spotlights the impressive contributions of del Toro and his talented cast, including Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and Christoph Waltz.
The publication also highlights the exceptional artisans involved in the film’s making, showcasing concept art, period-specific props, stunning locations, exquisite costumes, and valuable insights into the cinematic process.
Del Toro himself contributes a foreword to the book, accompanied by an introduction from Oscar Isaac, who portrays Victor Frankenstein.
This hardcover volume will be available for purchase on October 28, with a retail price of $75. Additionally, two limited collector editions, the Frankenstein: Portfolio Edition and Frankenstein: Artifact Edition, are slated for release later in the year.
