Ye know with all the themed bars and restaurants out there I am surprised I haven’t come across one that’s been Cybertron related. I mean sure, during Con season there are a ton of pop-up themed bars that show up but those are temporary. I’m talking a good old fashioned Mom and Pop brick and mortar bar…that Transforms. Duh.

What a way to start off my first column by painting a picture of a Cybertronian Bar on Earth that we could all go to and order us some Energon. We could call it The Rollout Bar like in the comics and make it a Neutral bar where both Evil and Good can meet and have a drink respectively.

We’ll have different figures on each table so the more you drink the more complex the transformations will be. Make it so the chairs transform or have one of those tables that extends to fit more people. Everything in the bar transforms one way or another not only to go along with the theme, but to also challenge the drinker to play drinking games whether they know it or not.

I don’t drink, but I would go. I would go just to enjoy the games and fun you could have there. Everyone would be cool and egos would be checked at the door because who is going to admit that they got into a drunk bar fight over whether Rumble is blue or not. Can you imagine having that conversation with your Mom when she picks you up in the morning?

Anyway, I am sure I could go on but I don’t want to burn you out on the first go around. Just know I have been a huge fan since I saw that beautiful cover by Bill Sienkiewicz back in 1984 and haven’t stopped since. My original collection saw over 500 figures which I had to sell 20 years ago. I’ve since restarted but have had to restrict my collecting to only Combiners but even then…I find my wallet pulling me toward other characters.

I am currently at 300 Transformers from multiple lines and I find my hunger comparable to that of Unicron. The more that comes out the more I want them. A few years ago I helped run Krooked Smile Kollectibles and one of the best things about it was seeing all the kids come in and introducing them to Transformers. Showing them the movies, the cartoons, the video games, the figures. Watching their eyes light up when they see that not only can they have a really awesome tank but that tank turns into a robot!! Nothing could compare.

Having a themed bar where we as adults could go and be a kid again while enjoying the benefits of being an adult would be awesome. I am envious of those that get to enjoy that with Star Wars and Horror and even Harry Potter themed bars and Café’s. Well now it’s our turn.

‘Till All Are One, you can find me at the Roll Out Bar.
