The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga was initially published in 1997, coinciding with the film’s 20th anniversary. Hisao Tamaki’s adaptation earned acclaim, culminating in the Eisner Award for Best U.S. Edition of Foreign Material. This new compendium meticulously reproduces Tamaki’s artwork using high-quality scans of the original art boards, offering fans a closer look at his creative process.

Set to hit store shelves in Summer 2026, Dark Horse’s release of The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope – The Manga presents eager supporters with early access via its Kickstarter campaign. The standard Collector’s Edition will feature a newly translated English text positioned in the margins, preserving the integrity of Tamaki’s artwork and lettering. Additionally, various editions will be available, including signed copies and slipcased versions, as well as a Masterpiece Edition that showcases the art in its original dimensions of 10.85” x 15.05”. Backers will also have the chance to acquire a Tamaki Art Print Set, featuring six full-size prints from select pages of the manga.
