The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are poised to conclude one of their most celebrated modern narratives, with the moment arriving in mere days.

The eagerly awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #12 from IDW Publishing hits shelves on October 22. This issue will mark the final contribution of the acclaimed creative team, comprising writer Jason Aaron and artist Juan Ferreyra, who will soon pass the torch to writer Gene Luen Yang and popular artist Kevin Williams II, beginning with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13.
The solicit synopsis for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #12 reads: “After 12 issues of being ripped apart, accused of murder, and tried as villains, the Turtles fight to clear their names and heal their family. Nothing stands between them and freedom — except a threat unlike any they’ve faced!”
Following the departure of Aaron and Ferreyra, Yang and Williams will initiate a gripping new chapter for the Heroes in a Half Shell in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #13. Just recently, IDW Publishing announced that the forthcoming issue has already surpassed 100,000 units sold. Adding to the excitement, readers have been introduced to a new adversary, Ujigami, who is set to present formidable challenges to the heroes of the Splinter Clan upon their arrival.
In a recent interview with CBR, Yang expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the TMNT universe, stating, “It’s amazing just to get to play in this sandbox.” He shared nostalgic reflections, recounting, “I have childhood memories of watching the old ’80s cartoon with my brother and reading the Mirage Studios comics at a friend’s house. Then when I was in my 20s, I got my start as a comics self-publisher with a grant from the Xeric Foundation, a non-profit founded by Peter Laird. I owe so much to the Turtles. It’s an honor to get to tell their stories.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #12 will be available on October 22 from IDW Publishing.
