Reacher star Alan Ritchson is in talks to star in Sony’s big-screen adaptation of Helldivers, the hit PlayStation video game franchise. If the deal closes, the project would mark Ritchson’s first time leading a theatrical studio feature.
Justin Lin, recognized for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise, is set to direct the film, which is scheduled for release on November 10, 2027. This casting decision comes after Jason Momoa’s exit from the project in early June.
Hailing from PlayStation Productions, Helldivers is based on the 2015 game from Arrowhead Game Studios and its sequel, with sales exceeding 12 million units combined. The sci-fi action narrative follows elite shock troopers tasked with defending the fictional planet Super Earth against alien threats.
Gary Dauberman, known for his work on It and Annabelle, penned the initial script for this adaptation before Lin joined the project.
