The DC Universe has embarked on a new chapter, prompting various actors to express interest in the coveted role of Batman. As Warner Bros. and DC Studios progress with The Batman: Part II, it appears that Robert Pattinson is unlikely to reprise his portrayal of the iconic Caped Crusader for the reimagined DCU. The role will now be recast for The Brave and The Bold, directed by Andy Muschietti. As anticipation builds, a familiar face from the DC realm has stepped forward to stake their claim for the role.

At this year’s Men of Steel panel during Fan Expo Canada, Tyler Hoechlin, known for his role as Superman, revealed his aspirations to don the cowl of Batman. When asked if he believed Pattinson’s interpretation of the character fit into the new continuity of the DC Universe, Hoechlin candidly stated, “Well, selfishly, I’m going to say no because I still want to play Batman.” He acknowledged Pattinson’s performance, praising both him and director Matt Reeves for their work, while suggesting the possibility of keeping the door open for future casting opportunities (via Screen Rant).

Should Tyler Hoechlin Play Batman In the DC Universe?

Tyler Hoechlin has showcased his portrayal of Superman over four seasons on The CW’s critically acclaimed series, Superman and Lois. His journey as the Man of Steel began with a guest appearance in Supergirl and has since included notable appearances across several DC series such as The Flash, Arrow, Batwoman, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Notably, Hoechlin has long been a popular choice among fans for the role of Batman, having been considered for the character as far back as 2013.

Hoechlin’s extensive experience as a celebrated DC character positions him as a compelling candidate for Batman. If casting were currently underway, DC Studios co-head James Gunn would be remiss not to consider Hoechlin for the role or at least invite him to audition. Yet he is not alone in his pursuit; Reacher star Alan Ritchson has also emerged as a favored choice among fans, given his prior portrayal of Aquaman in Smallville and Hawk in Titans.

DC Studios is keenly focused on releasing The Batman: Part II before shifting gears to The Brave and the Bold. This strategic approach aims to avoid brand confusion by refraining from releasing two Batman films concurrently. While Gunn has made it clear that the casting process for The Brave and the Bold is not yet underway, it is essential for Hoechlin to be considered once the time comes. His body of work, including his captivating performances in Superman and Lois, Teen Wolf, and Can You Keep a Secret?, attests to his versatility and should not go unnoticed. Hoechlin possesses the potential to recreate the darker aspects of Bruce Wayne, paralleling the rising star status of fellow actor David Corenswet.
