KPop Demon Hunters is set to return to theaters, as announced by Netflix on Wednesday.
The highly anticipated KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along will screen at three of the nation’s largest cinema chains—AMC, Regal, and Cinemark—over Halloween weekend. Following a successful limited run in August, where it grossed between $17 million and $18 million, this will be the first time the film screens at AMC Theatres.
“Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service, and AMC Entertainment, the largest theater chain, are collaborating for this exciting event. This partnership will kick off this Halloween weekend,” stated a spokesperson for AMC. The film will be available across approximately 400 screens from October 31 to November 2. “Despite not having collaborated commercially in recent years, both Netflix and AMC are optimistic about the mutually beneficial opportunities this partnership may yield.”
The film will also have international screenings in countries such as Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Korea, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. Tickets for the showings will go on sale at 6 a.m. Pacific Time on October 17.
In addition to the theatrical return, Netflix is launching Demon Hunters merchandise and an official Spirit Halloween costume line for fans eager to join the festivities.
The animated feature has emerged as Netflix’s most popular title to date, following the adventures of Huntrix—a K-pop girl group composed of three members who secretly battle monsters lurking in the underworld. The film’s soundtrack has found considerable success, spending several weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.
Furthermore, THR recently reported that a sequel film is currently in the pipeline at Netflix in collaboration with Sony Animation.
The talented vocalists of Huntrix—Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna—have continued to promote their hit song through performances on platforms like Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
