In an interview with Hong Kong outlet HK01, Chan shared that his stunt team is collaborating with the cast and crew of Spider-Man: Brand New Day to refine the film’s fight choreography. Chan noted that he had the opportunity to observe rehearsals, where his mere presence caused quite a stir. “I went to London for meetings and to visit the team,” Chan recounted. “My stunt team is working on Spider-Man—they’re serving as action directors. I went to watch their rehearsals. When the director saw me, he immediately got nervous and started trembling, until he realized that the whole team was actually my people!”

With a distinguished career spanning six decades in the action film industry, Chan brings unparalleled expertise to the project. In addition to his iconic role in the Rush Hour series, which is currently in the process of developing another sequel, Chan has also recently appeared in Karate Kid: Legends, a film that, despite mixed reviews, has gained significant traction on streaming platforms after a lackluster box office performance. He is also known for his contributions to animated cinema, including popular franchises such as Kung Fu Panda and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

This is not Chan’s first collaboration with Marvel, as his team previously worked on the critically acclaimed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Although Chan has not yet appeared in a Marvel film, speculation regarding his potential MCU debut continues to circulate, bolstered by a reported meeting between him and Shang-Chi star Simu Liu earlier this year.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day commenced filming in Glasgow on August 3, utilizing the working title Blue Oasis. Directed by Shang-Chi‘s Destin Daniel Cretton, early production updates have begun to surface, including Tom Holland’s comics-accurate Spider-Man costume.

The upcoming sequel will see Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker following the events of No Way Home, where a spell cast by Doctor Strange resulted in the world’s collective amnesia pertaining to his superhero identity. The wall-crawler is now repositioned to combat street-level crime, although specific plot details remain under wraps.

Joining Holland in this installment is his real-life fiancée Zendaya, returning as Michelle Jones-Watson, also known as MJ. Additionally, Jon Bernthal is set to return as Frank Castle/Punisher after his MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again, while Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Notably, Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink has been cast in an unspecified role, alongside Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear and Tramell Tillman from Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

The official release date for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for July 31, 2026.
