Lucasfilm and Disney+ dropped the official teaser trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord today, giving fans their first look at the upcoming animated series centered on one of the franchise’s most iconic villains.Released on January 22, 2026, the teaser sets a dark, brooding tone as the story picks up after Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Maul is shown rebuilding his power within the galaxy’s criminal underworld on the shadowy planet Janix, far from the Empire’s direct control.
Though brief, the teaser delivers plenty to chew on — showcasing Maul’s signature double-bladed lightsaber, hints of rising Imperial influence, and the looming threat of the Inquisitorius. A chilling line, “We survive, but do not live,” underscores the series’ focus on Maul’s fractured psyche and ruthless ambition.
