The resurgence of Rob Liefeld’s Youngblood is turning heads in the collectibles market, highlighting the enduring appeal of independent comics. As one of the titles that played a pivotal role in the formation of Image Comics, Youngblood remains Liefeld’s most iconic creation, and with a new volume now on shelves, demand for the earlier issues has prompted Image Comics to accelerate reprints of Issues #1 and #2.

Image Comics has confirmed that Youngblood #1 and Youngblood #2 are sold out at the distributor level. Collectors and fans are advised to visit their local comic shops to secure remaining copies, as waiting for the reprints may mean missing out on this hotly anticipated series.
“I cannot express the full appreciation I have to everyone who jumped back into the deep end of the Youngblood pool with me,” Liefeld stated. “There’s room in the tent for fans young and old! We are committed to making this reader-friendly, entry level storyline in print as long as demand persists! Deep gratitude for the continued support!”
Historically, Rob Liefeld was a transformative force within Marvel’s X-Men franchise, reinvigorating The New Mutants and introducing beloved characters such as Deadpool, Cable, and Domino. His influence extended as he transitioned The New Mutants into the blockbuster hit X-Force, which achieved extraordinary sales milestones.
In the 1990s, Liefeld, alongside six other prominent creators, departed Marvel to establish Image Comics, marking a significant milestone known as the Image Revolution. The debut of Youngblood #1 was instrumental in this movement, achieving record sales that surpassed one million copies, solidifying its place in comic book history.
The first issue of Youngblood was a sellout well before its official release on November 12, indicating robust pre-launch interest among fans. Responding to high demand, Image Comics quickly arranged for a second printing, which featured a new cover by Liefeld and a special Treasury Edition.
“This is the time for gratitude. Grateful to the Youngblood fans that have roared with their enthusiasm. Grateful to every retail partner that took the leap with their support. Grateful to comic stores, the backbone of our market; we rely on them to reach the masses,” Liefeld added, reflecting on the series’ popularity.
“And I gotta express my thanks to everyone at Image Comics who provided guidance and enthusiasm. Enjoy this comic! The Road to Youngblood #100 starts here!”
Youngblood is currently available at comic shops and digital storefronts, making it a timely consideration for collectors looking to expand their inventories.
