Bette Midler is providing an update on the anticipated Hocus Pocus 3, expressing her enthusiasm after reviewing the script.

The original film, known for featuring the enchanting Sanderson sisters, premiered in 1993, followed by a long-awaited sequel that debuted on Disney+ in 2022. Following the resounding success of Hocus Pocus 2, which set streaming records, Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, announced the development of a third installment in June 2023.

In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Midler, who reprises her role as one of the three Sanderson sisters, revealed, “Well, you know, they sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant. So I got very excited.” She further noted, “And now we’re trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things.”

Hocus Pocus 2 was a remarkable success for Disney+, amassing a record 2.7 billion minutes viewed during its opening weekend. The film ranked as the No. 6 most-streamed movie of 2022, accumulating a total of 5.7 billion minutes watched.

Midler starred in the first two films alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. The original film was directed by Kenny Ortega, while Anne Fletcher took the helm for the sequel. Fletcher is set to return for Hocus Pocus 3, partnering with Jen D’Angelo, who penned the 2022 follow-up.
