As Marvel enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the uncertain return of Scarlet Witch within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen has shared her enthusiasm for a potential X-Men storyline that she would love to bring to life on screen.

The Emmy-nominated actress, who is also the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, expressed her admiration for one particular arc from Marvel Comics that strongly features Scarlet Witch. At a panel discussion during ComicCon LA in late September 2025, Olsen was prompted to share which comic storylines she would like to see adapted for the screen.
Seated alongside Paul Bettany, the actor who portrays Vision and is set to star in an upcoming spinoff, Olsen was asked by moderator Joseph Deckelmeier from Screen Rant for her thoughts. In response, she stated:
“I mean, I just think that House of M is just the coolest. I don’t know how to make it make sense… Maybe there are some fan pitches or theories out there. But I just think it could be so fun to deal with X-Men and Avengers, and ‘No more mutants.’
Olsen concluded her commentary with a reference to the iconic phrase from the 2005 limited series by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artists Olivier Coipel, Tim Townsend, and Frank D’Armata. The storyline of House of M centers around a plot devised by Professor Charles Xavier, who attempts to rally the Avengers and the X-Men to eliminate Wanda Maximoff, as her overwhelming grief from the loss of her twin sons, whom she had conjured into existence, leads to wide-ranging, reality-altering repercussions.
Before this mission can be executed, however, reality is transformed once again. Scarlet Witch reshapes the world according to the deepest desires of every individual, including being reunited with her twins and placing her father, Magneto, at the helm of the planet. The twist is that no one retains memories of their previous lives—save for Wolverine. He, alongside other super-powered allies, awakens their memories with assistance from the young mutant Layla Miller, ultimately persuading Wanda to revert reality to its original state, only for her to betray them by drastically reducing the mutant population by 98%.
Olsen’s remarks during ComicCon LA were not her first reflections on her passion for adapting House of M. In fact, she previously articulated her interest while promoting Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, alongside actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Quicksilver. During that discussion, she expressed concerns that a narrative involving Scarlet Witch’s descent into madness following the loss of her “two fake babies” might be too dark for the MCU. This prediction eventually echoed the plot trajectory in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Despite the ending of the 2022 sequel—directed by Sam Raimi and featuring Benedict Cumberbatch—implying the supposed death of Wanda Maximoff, many fans continue to view this outcome as a missed opportunity for character development, particularly concerning a potential House of M adaptation. Notably, both WandaVision and the events of Doctor Strange 2 indeed incorporated elements from that narrative arc, making it seem that for now, this remains the closest the MCU will approach adapting the storyline. However, with the X-Men finally integrated into the franchise, the possibility of Scarlet Witch’s return in a future adaptation remains intriguingly open.
In other news, Elizabeth Olsen is set to star in a supernatural dramedy from A24 titled Eternity, which is scheduled for release on November 26, 2025.
